Could you provide an overview of your role and responsibilities within the company?

I joined Zegna as Group CIO in early 2019 to lead the Business & Digital Transformation roadmap, starting from the renewal of the IT Group strategy and Organization through the modernization of all the Global application and infrastructure landscape. My role and responsibility is to create a competitive business advantage leveraging on the technology, above all in the digital era, in a business where personalization and anticipating trends is a must.

What are some of the key challenges you face?

My top key challenges are:

● Merge digital investments and transformation projects to organizational goals and business velocity in an uncertain economic situation

● Match new IT solutions offer with a more sophisticated customer personalization/experience

● Enhance cybersecurity defense and market compliance adherence.

● Sponsor Cloud adoption on a typical manufacturing domain

● Reskilling and upskilling employees for a digital workforce

● Keeping up with cutting-edge technologies such as AI, machine learning, big data, finding the best use case fit

● Standardize IT solutions across the Group and Brands

What would you say are some of the futuristic trends that will have an impact in the next 18- 24 months?

In the luxury industry, looking ahead, I envision the following tech trends:

● AI applied to decisions and execution: machine learning can be used to make better decisions, design new collections, predict customer behaviors.

● Next level process automation: process automation and virtualization of activities.

● Advanced connectivity: new digital solutions that can drive growth and productivity across industries today and tomorrow

● Immersive-reality technologies will use sensing technologies to help users to improve their personalized purchasing experience.

● Cloud and edge computing capabilities: hyperscale remote data centers to improve latency, data-transfer costs, adherence to data sovereignty regulations, autonomy over data and security.

● Mobility and clean technologies aim to improve efficiency and sustainability.
