The visual aesthetic in stacking, storing and shelving products has long been a part of the sales strategy at retail stores. It is essential for retailers to create an ambience that can drive the attention of a consumer and engage them to purchase a product. In the food and beverage sector, brands can often fail to sell their goods as intended and incur losses due to wastage created by out of date products. While the deployment of technology allows for companies to have a more streamlined operational workflow, it is imperative that they also utilize the right digital tools and equipment in shelving and storing their products in the most efficient manner.

Enter EasyFill, a clever store shelf provider that focuses on helping retailers save time and resources through its range of First In First Out merchandising systems and allow stores to increase sales, improve efficiency and reduce waste through spoilage or similar effects. With an aim to reduce food waste originating from products that have completed their shelf life, EasyFill aims to build a healthier planet and take steps toward feeding the less-privileged across the globe.

Visual Merchandising with a Twist

Based in Bräcke, Sweden, EasyFill has a unique range of store shelves that allow a retailer’s floor staff to refill and stock products easily and with minimal effort. One area that the company excels in is the beverage sector and it is almost impossible to not find EasyFill’s RotoShelf if one were to look at the beverage cabinet at a store in Sweden.

A patented EasyFill product, RotoShelf has a special rotating motion that allows an entire section of a cabinet to turn without affecting the products on the shelf. Users can access the back of a shelf to store products and also ensure that products are always available to consumers with ease. From a time saving perspective, store staff can serve their consumers at the counter better and create strong relationships, further improving sales. Offering more visibility to the consumer, retailers using the automated shelf witness a significant sales uplift. The use of a gravity feed ensures that the consumers always receive the coldest beverage. With the ability to fill the shelves from the back, retailers spend less time opening the doors of their refrigerated cabinets and save energy and refilling times by half or more. RotoShelf is suitable for beverages, juices and dairy in small packages. As edible and drinkable products come in all shapes and sizes, EasyFill’s TurnLoader offers retailers the same benefits as its premier rack—RotoShelf but for larger products and multipacks.

For one supermarket chain, EasyFill installed its RotoShelf for its latest dairy unit and the results were immediate. Deviating from their normal modus operandi, the client, though initially challenged, decided to see through the project. The supermarket chain reduced 40 percent of their waste from the dairy category and seen an increase of 5 percent in sales. In addition, the ease of refilling the shelves allowed for a whopping 40 percent reduction in shelving times. The propitious success of EasyFill was when a renowned energy drink maker chose them as their retail shelving partner across many outlet and gas stations in Sweden.

The Extended Product Line

To allow retailers to take full advantage of the unique store shelve systems, EasyFill has designed and developed a cabinet in collaboration with Efficold. The MaxLoad cabinet series comes in various sizes depending on retailer requirements.

The MaxLoad 700 comes with an in-built RotoShelf that has six division compared to the five shelves in traditional refrigeration units. To offer clients a new twist while not letting go of a legacy system, MaxLoad 705 comes with five RotoShelf divisions and an in-line shelf at the bottom of the unit. The largest product in the line is the MaxLoad 900, a ninety centimetre double door option to allow for even better cooling, storing and selling options.

When it comes to visual merchandising, the separation and segregation of products is critical to a retailer. In simplifying this aspect for a store, EasyFill has an add-on shelf-divider accessory that can be fitted at every three or six millimetres on a TurnLoader system. Another innovation is the spring loaded pusher that allows for the easy loading of products and ensures that products entering a shelf first are at the front. To allow the products to stay in place, EasyFill also provides a front stopper that can be installed in a breeze and without any technical assistance.

Putting an End to Food Waste

Led by a team of highly-experienced professionals, EasyFill delivers some of the most innovative retail shelving solutions that allow for the overall benefit of a retail business. While enjoying success in the consumer business space, the main vision of the visual merchandising solution provider is to ultimately reduce food wastage from expired products.

An astonishing 800 million to 1 billion people are without adequate food resources. With Europe alone wasting 88 million tonnes of food per year, an estimated one third of produce at a cost of 143 billion Euros, EasyFill’s clever store shelves are part of the overall solution to reduce food waste on products with short shelf life like dairy. With a 40 percent reduction of product removal due to wastage, EasyFill wishes to enable retailers to adhere to legislation laws that are in place to stop food waste. In addition, EasyFill also allows its partners and clients to participate in an initiative to curb world hunger, and works closely with the United Nations to fulfil the sustainable development goals recommended by the governing body in its twelfth edition of responsible consumption and production for countries.

With a global presence, EasyFill works alongside the top manufacturers of refrigeration units all across the world.
