In partnership with the Olympia Downtown Alliance, SnowShoe introduces a new gamified loyalty solution pilot.

FREMONT, CA: Snow Shoe, the leading developer of physical presence systems for mobile authentication, declares the pilot launch of a new gamified retail loyalty solution in Olympia, Washington, with a large group of local retailers. The new Go Downtown loyalty program combines a world-class shopping game application with the one-of-a-kind Spark" hardware solution to foster cross-store loyalty and draw visitors to downtown Olympia.

Snow Shoe chooses downtown Olympia for this pilot project due to the success of the community's buy local movement. Olympia Downtown Alliance is a crucial partner in the initiative's launch.

“We’re thrilled that Snow Shoe chose Olympia for this pilot,” says Todd Cutts, Executive Director of Olympia Downtown Alliance. “Downtown Olympia is a vibrant area with hundreds of independent local businesses, and we hope everyone comes back downtown this summer as retail rebounds in Olympia.”

“Snow Shoe CEO Ned Hayes is positive about the partnership. Snow Shoe developed this loyalty program specifically for downtown districts like Olympia,” says Hayes. “We are eager to see how people respond to this new and exciting way of shopping and dining together.”

The program is being launched as part of the Olympia Downtown Alliance's ongoing Why I Go Downtown initiative, increasing downtown shopping, dining, and entertainment participation. The new Go Downtown app, similar to Pokemon Go, uses game-based techniques to encourage downtown shoppers to check-in at local businesses. By enabling users to create shopping loops and share favorite routes with friends, the Snow Shoe solution promotes multi-store shopping trips. This loyalty program between local enterprises is expected to increase repeat customer visits to downtown Olympia by more than 55 percent year over year.

Cheryl Selby, Olympia's mayor, anticipates consumers will embrace the program. Residents and visitors to Olympia are enthusiastic supporters of local businesses, according to Selby. SnowShoes' new program incorporates gamification into the local shopping experience, and it provides us with a way to thank people for coming downtown and encourage them to return.

Local businesses and restaurants that participate in the program can refer customers to other companies, fostering cross-store loyalty throughout the downtown area.

“I’m excited to see people returning to our downtown,” says Kae Stair of Compass Rose. “The daily gift store has been a flagship downtown shop since 1998. Our staff is asked all the time for recommendations of where to shop or eat. The Go Downtown app gives us a fun way to share our recommendations with people and for customers to become advocates for their favorite places.”

Dean Jones is the proprietor of Encore Chocolates and Teas, which carries chocolates from around the world and 325 varieties of tea. He is also looking forward to the new program's launch. The Go Downtown program is an excellent new way to discover Downtown Olympia's unique appeal, Dean says. There is so much to do and see here; this is a perfect way to foster community.
